I bought this single from the band at a rare show in Duluth in 1988. I still have it. And now, 33+ years later (!), I'm adding it to my digital collection, too. It still rocks.
Favorite track: Crazy Boys.

With Cindy Lawson returning to stage in finest form on the HiFi Loading Dock this latest COVID-19 year (2021), I had wondered why I didn't know any songs by The Clams. Neither could I find much on Spotify or youtube (until this past month). I just learned "Crazy Boys", a song I'd recorded to cassette off left-of-the-dial Minneapolis radio in a past life, and have listened to hundreds of times since (I know all the words), is The Clams (Take it, Rox!). Wow!

“Crazy Boys” presents the fun and follies of fandom, with a dollop of Chuck Berry. “Train Song” keeps a-rollin’ mightily.

"This is a major treat for anyone who enjoys garage/pop/girl group rock and roll. The Clams are one of those bands that fall into the "shoulda been huge" category, and I'm stoked that their material is about to be introduced to new generations of fans along with anyone who may have missed out the first time around. Can you imagine what it would have been like to have been a fly on the wall at clubs like 7th Street Entry or The Uptown Bar back in the '80s? "Crazy Boys" will give you a little taste of that!" - Lord Rutledge, Faster And Louder
"This is awesome." - Adventure Tom
"Hot damn, I can smell mid-80's 7th Street Entry or The Uptown Bar through every second of this smokin' tune!" - Scott Hudson, The Ledge
"Chuck Berry, better Keith Richard, as he was known then, is all over Crazy Boys, the a-side. The all girl band, Cindy Lawson, Patty Jansen, Karen Cusack, Roxie Terry, really rock out, combining The Ramones with the Stones in a great way." - WoNo Blog

Tougher than the Go-Go’s or the Bangles. More melodically savvy than the Pandoras or Babes In Toyland. Independent and self-directed, unlike the Runaways, but just as “Cherry Bomb” hot. Ladies and gents, the Clams were a real rock band, a bit raw and mighty tasty. They coulda shoulda woulda been at least cult stars. The evidence is in your mitts. -- Tom Surowicz, Twin Cities music journalist, happily retired.
When it came to 80s indie rock one of the best places to live was the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, aka the Twin Cities. It seemed as though the center of the rock music universe was there from Husker Du to the Replacements, the artist who was then known as Prince, not to mention the second wave of bands such as Trip Shakespeare, the Jayhawks, and the Gear Daddies. But for all these fairly well-known aggregations there were bands like the Clams who were wonderful, rocked like all get-out, and only briefly had their day in the sun. But what a day it was. -- John Dougan

This album soundtracked the summer of 2007 for me as I road the subway around the 5 boroughs, hoofed it through Lower Manhattan at night and then across many a bleary and otherwise morning watching the sun come up in Washington Square Park. A true New York City album of universal survival, grit and grace, then and now. Real glad for this reissue. Cheers mates, Gutters do Glitter… robertjoseph31
