"I heard Piece Of The Pie on LSUG a few months ago and it's the best new stuff I have heard in years. Instant fan! Like something Joan Jett should have recorded in 1982 but better. Straight and to the point with great hooks and great guitar work especially. Less is more. Keep going!!!" - loyal fan and estimable customer, Eric L
"Just heard this this weekend, out here in Idaho, it reminded me of a hot night in Max's Kansas city the summer of 77...." - David Grunigen
"These tracks sound awesome Kim! Your voice is amazing and tuff as nails!! These tracks definitely remind me of all the heroines in films i absolutely adore! All the bad ass bitches in Savage Streets and Thriller(1973). soo soo good!" - Gabby Bam Bam, BBQT
"A brilliant amalgam of styles but with a singular message, this is a powerful and enlightening listen. So, listen to it. NOW." - Monk, Uber Rock
"Proof that holding onto a dream for decades can pay off, Leather Catsuit is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Kim Olin, and an idea germinating since the eighties. The rock & roll DJs’ debut EP bring in pals she made along the way, like bassist Johnny Pisano, drummer Jon Weber (both of whom anchor fellow traveler Willie Nile’s band), and, as co-writer, producer, and guitarist, Steve Conte, whose resumé include everything from hair metallers Company of Wolves to the New York Dolls and Michael Monroe, not to mention his own superlative solo efforts. He and Olin come up with four songs (plus one reworked from songwriter Dave DeLuca’s catalog) that rock (“Piece of the Pie”), roll (“Can’t Get You Off My Mind”), weep (“A Woman Alone”), and worry (“Broken”). “You’re Killing Me” caps it off with a midtempo moan that puts melody, emotion, and soul into an irresistible package." - Michael "Denim" Toland, Big Takeover Magazine
"Lead single of this mini album 'Piece Of The Pie' already received profuse praise on this blog. For Kim Olin a dream came true. The record is her dream baby and what a record it is." - WoNo Blog
"Holy crap this is a great song!" - John B. Moore
"The opening track is Conte’s forte and signature, a balls-out street punk singalong which sees us all gladly helping ourselves to a piece of this rawk ‘n’ rollin’ pie, and then salivating for more. Of course, that comes immediately, with the Pretenders-ish pop friendliness of ‘Can’t Get You Off My Mind’, which has one of those melodies you won’t dislodge from yours anytime soon and a superb vocal from Olin, an aritst about whom I’ll definitely find out more, and asafp!" - Uber Rock
"Leather Catsuit is the long awaited and highly anticipated project (and self titled EP) from New Jersey vocalist/songwriter Kim Olin. Backing her is an all-star power trio consisting of guitarist Steve Conte (New York Dolls/Michael Monroe), bassist Johnny Pisano Willie Nile/Ryan Adams) and drummer Jon Weber (Willie Nile/Rock of Ages). The lead off track, ‘Piece Of The Pie’ is a slice of feral, leather-clad, alley prowling rock and roll that digs its claws into you and doesn’t let go! Well worth the wait, but please don’t make us wait so long for the next one! This is what it’s all about! “You gotta go out and get it”. - “Boris” Boden (aka ‘The Secret Weapon’ on Woody Radio)
"Expect a Joan Jett style punk rocker, with a rough and tough singer who "wants the world right at her feet". With Piece Of The Pie chances are she ought to get enough people at her feet to make a difference. Kim Olin shows that age has nothing to do with being able to write, sing and record a great punk rock single. Piece Of The Pie is a declaration of intent and purpose where "the sky is the limit". Assisted by the great guitar work of Steve Conte and the rhythm work of Johnny Pisano and John Weber, this is one tough single." - WoNo Blog
Please allow me to introduce myself...I'm Kim Olin and this is my labor of love. This project is the culmination of 30 years of being immersed in music, and all of the friends and relationships built over the years. I started writing songs back in the 80s while I was living in New Brunswick, NJ when it was a hotbed of talent and rock. Unfortunately, some of my poor life choices made it impossible for me to keep a band together.
Throughout the next few decades, I continued to stay involved in the east coast music scene and became a DJ on
WoodyRadio.com. A few years back I relocated to the Jersey Shore and immersed myself in the burgeoning scene in Asbury Park and decided the time had come for me to give my music another shot. The pandemic was a blessing for this project because some of my most talented friends were free because touring had been cut back so much. I am privileged to have the amazingly talented Steve Conte (NY Dolls/Michael Monroe) act as both producer and guitar slinger on this project. Johnny Pisano (Willie Nile/Ryan Adams) adds his versatile bass skills to the mix, and hard-hitting drummer Jon Weber (Willie Nile/Rock of Ages) round out this power trio. I'm doing the singing. We recorded most of it in two days at Renegade Nation Studios in NYC with Geoff Sanoff working the board. We finished up with a few days at Steve's home studio. I am super proud of the work we did.
