"One of the must-haves of this year, without a doubt!" - Voix de Garage Grenoble
"With SaturnalienS, Amplifier Heads bring us a concept album with nods to the bands that made the 70’s the era of glam, garage and good drugs. It’s Ziggy Stardust meets Roman Gods. New York Dolls meet T Rex. And it’s way more fun than a pet rock." - Power Pop News
"Damn, I love this record." - Boris "The Secret Weapon" Woody Radio
"Hey Lou – Just wanted to say that the song The House of Young Dolls totally ROCKS! Currently OBSESSED by it! And, of course, spinnin’ it on WSCA." - Jason Brown, The Kitchen Sink
"As cool as its concept may be, SaturnalienS succeeds on the strength of its tunes. Baglio's affection for the heyday of rock and roll is not mere nostalgia. He and his bandmates appreciate the timeless art of two-to-three minute rock and roll songs with roaring guitars, memorable melodies, and choruses made for the radio. In a modern world full of bands filling ultra-specific niches, The Amplifier Heads still aim to be a great rock and roll band, period. On this planet and beyond, such a thing will never go out of style." - Faster And Louder
"Goddamn, this is the great lost Marc Bolan, Eddie Cochran, and Johnny Thunders supergroup corker!" - Scott Hudson, The Ledge
"It's a throwback to a time when you'd put on your headphones and just sit there getting lost in a rock and roll record. Does anyone still do that?" - Lord Rutledge
"The sound, the way of playing, the effects on the guitar, it all is nostalgia. Singer Sal Baglio sings in this early David Bowie style of the 'Hunky Dory', 'Ziggy Stardust' era. House Of Young Dolls is one of those pop gems that still happen to be released, far from the world's general ear but audible to all who take the trouble of looking beyond the first post. Behind that post a world of pop opens itself, a world where pop, rock and a great feel for a great melody combine into a song like this." - WoNo Blog
"I still remember back in the early 80's, one of the first local bands I followed on a regular basis were The Stompers. Sal Baglio was a fantastic frontman who wrote great songs and he's still at it. His new band The Amplifier Heads have a release coming out called SaturnaliensS. I've heard some of it, Sal brings the same great sound he always has, this release is a must have !!" - Skybar Rising, WMFO
SaturnalienS is the third full length record from The Amplifier Heads. Their first for Rum Bar Records. A rock n’ roll rocket ride into space, madness, fantasy and the vinyl frontier. A graphic novel for the ears and head. 12 tracks full of distortion, feedback, groovy swinging beats and pure pop melodies.
The first single “GlamOrama” is a glam-rocket memory ride that takes a three minute time warp back to the days of platform shoes, shag haircuts, and Circus magazine.
Amplifiers lose their heads, young dolls get turned out to the street, rock n’ roll is the pain reliever used intravenously via a phonograph stylus while fueled up rocket boys go wild and earth girls wreak havoc. Sullivan, Shindig, Hullabaloo are back in black and white, peppermint Candi in GlamOramic gold lamé dances to The Satellite Stars and in some basement room a drummer counts to 4.
The past is always present and no one down below can bother you when you are on the moon.
it wasn’t the blues or a blown fuse nor the needle in the red
‘twas the silent sound of madness even the radio went dead
and the newspapers sighed there’d be no encore
the concert promoter said thru blown out speakers
the rest in pieces
the amp has lost its head
