I initially wrote Days Go By in the summer of 2019 after the loss of a really close friend. The past few years has seen the loss of many, far too many, friends and family, and it just wears on you. The words that flowed into the song represented and dealt with my feelings of loss and the fact that it never gets easy and it never really goes away. It's confusing and frustrating and just isn't fair. We gotta move forward, but that doesn't mean we have to let go...and it's ok to let those emotions do what they do. It was also a self reminder of how fragile and unpredictable our time here on this earth really is. Sometimes you need to slow down and take a moment and be thankful and appreciate who we and what we are at the most simple and basic level. Time is never stopping. Smell the grass. Feel the breeze. Hug the ones you love.

During a mix session for the initial 7 songs recorded in the summer of 2019 for this album, I was inspired to pick up an acoustic guitar and start strumming Days Go By. My engineer and I decided on the spot to set up to record the acoustic guitar. I put down the rhythm guitar and Angelo added to it, then I did a vocal take. This barely over a minute acoustic song sat thru the pandemic that soon followed. I intended to keep it short, to the point and intimate with acoustic, but as time passed I thought about adding a full band to it.

Early 2021 I went in the studio with my drummer Marty and we recorded a full band second half to the song and merged it all together. The vocal harmonies in the outro were meant to be a moment of thought, memories and reflection.
