"Glorious power pop from the home of grunge."
- Maximum Volume Music
"The Cheap Cassettes don't sound like a power pop group you've heard 100 times before. And I must say that these tunes are top-notch!" - Lord Rutledge, Faster And Louder
"Doffing their caps to The Dead Boys, The Real Kids, & early Blondie, we ask: "Is this the best cryogenically-frozen-and-reanimated band of 2017?"" - RockerZine
"Infectious power pop, punctuated by jittery distorted guitar and Chaz Matthews’ caffeinated vocals; a sound that is sorely missing in pop music lately." - Blurt
My favorite mixtape, all worn out, the top corners popped in so you can't record over it, and the tape torn so many times from the rusty old buick's tape deck that I must have spliced and taped it back to playable format so many times over. Yet, it is still my favorite mixtape from the days when you would buy a package of blank cassettes and make the best mix tape possible with the sounds of classic rock radio, new wave dance clubs, hair metal bars, punk rock dives, and sticky sweet bubble gum sounds of power pop and glam rock. Yes, sticky like the melted bubble gum on a summer afternoon street corner that stuck to the sole of your chucks. Stuck somewhere between Material Issue, Best Kissers In The World, Fudge, Flop, The Fluid, Redd Kross, The Meices, The Muffs, MTX, and The Plimsouls, there would be The Cheap Cassettes. Their latest release 'Kiss The Ass Of My Heart' is just that, a rollercoaster ride of power pop adrenaline, sticky sweet bubble gum, and glam punk agnst. Keep that finger close to the rewind button.
The Cheap Cassettes have joined the ranks of like minded power pop/punk rock Pacific Northwest bands like The Exploding Hearts, The Briefs, King Louie’s Missing Monuments, Flop, The Lemons, The Riffs,
The Cute Lepers, and Best Kissers In The World.

Rum Bar Records is turning into one of the absolute best labels for real rock and roll these days, if you haven't gotten hip to that trip. It's the boss sound from the Boss-town." - Bill Kelly, Bill Kelly's Teenage Wasteland WFMU

Power Pop goodness in the tradition of earlier bands like Dbs, The Romantics, The Beat. Good all around sound from this band who while not raging, or engaging in all sorts of effects....are RnR. krotix

ALBUM OF THE YEAR, easily.
effortlessly on a par with X's vintage catalogue, "Alphabetland" is a solid testimony of a band as vibrant, creative and urgent as ever. Honestly, it's THAT good. Strongly recommended. ramblinerikk
