about

"hell yeah! another awesome band score for lou!!! great bunch of dudes, an' they kill at live shows!!!!" - Nicole Tammaro Photography

"Ruin the Nite is made up of a rogue’s gallery of Boston aces: Duggan, who shares lead vocals with singer and keyboardist Jeff “Chip” Nicolai, plus guitarist Matt Sullivan, drummer Dave Norton, trumpeter Dan McCool, and saxophonist Nathan Blaser. Duggan and Nicolai came from Goddamn Draculas but, beyond a knack for songcraft, Ruin the Nite has little overlap with the wonderful excess of the Drax. “Sound the Alarm” touches on edgy indie rock and tuneful yacht rock, huge guitar workouts and delicate piano pieces, all with tender, tight and triumphant harmonies." - Jed Gottlieb, Boston Herald

""Sang to Me," is dripping with punk attitude and has a punk edge, but this is far too melodic to truly even be pop punk. It's much closer to classic early rock and roll and R&B. The horns are truly the stars of the song, adding a layer of class that smooths out the rougher edges. "Sang to Me" is all about harmonies, despite vocalist/bassist Chris Duggan's rough vocals, but that's what creates the true charm of Ruin the Nite." - If It's Too Loud

"An already great thing just got even better with the addition of Cape Cod saxophonist Nathan Blaser to the Ruin The Nite lineup. Can't wait to hear the whole album!" - Kristen Eck, BumbleBeeRadio.com

Boston’s premier “Dad Bod Rock” band are comprised of six players you likely already know across our music scene, but here together they're making their own kind of melodic racket. A brass-and-booze-fueled single arrives in mid-October, and a debut album lands in November.

Blame it on hubris, blame it on the pandemic, blame it on being around the rock and roll block a few times and knowing to trust your friends and collaborators more than anyone else. But when Ruin The Nite came together to craft their debut album Sound The Alarm, the Boston sextet didn’t need to look very far outside their immediate circle to get the job done. “We did this record 100 percent ourselves,” proclaims vocalist and bassist Chris Duggan. “We wrote it, recorded it, engineered it, mixed it, did the artwork… I am proud we did it this way.” The pride shines through on Sound The Alarm, a collection of 10 brash booze- and brass-driven tracks, recorded at Duggan’s Blue Banshee Recording Studio in Brewster, that sound like nothing else in the Boston music scene. -- Michael Marotta, Oct 2022 publisist.substack.com/p/ruin-the-nite-set-a-tone-for
